Baja Beetle

Designed by Larry Wood after the homemade off-road Beetles that raced Mexico's Baja 1000 in the late 1960s, this casting ran in the mainline from its 1984 debut all the way to 2016 under a rotating cast of names, including VW Baja, Baja Beetle, and Volkswagen Baja Bug. A newer, retooled Volkswagen "Baja Bug" version joined the mainline in 2022.
