'55 Chevy

The '55 Chevy casting was designed by Larry Wood and entered the lineup in 1982 as part of The Hot Ones series. Its earliest examples used a Hong Kong-stamped base for only a single year before production shifted to Malaysia, though both variants hold similar collector value. The casting was later revised, gaining a plastic base in 1991 and losing its separate hood-scoop piece the following year; this 1996 Splatter Paint Series release (toy #15255) reflects the later tooling.
